Technical Design

A projection design concept for The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity exploring spectacle, media, and the construction of American identity. Developed a multi-surface projection system integrating projection screens and LED displays around the performance space, with a cue-based visual language that shifts between exaggerated entertainment, backstage imagery, patriotic iconography, live broadcast, and signal disruption. The design gradually moves from reinforcing the spectacle to revealing the systems and illusions behind it.

Backstage imagery and technical infrastructure reveal the construction behind the spectacle, inviting the audience to see how the illusion is made.

Glitching flags, patriotic symbols, and fragmented text present patriotism as performance, with national pride packaged, repeated, and sold.

Live Feed
Live wrestling imagery transforms the screens into an arena-style broadcast, allowing the audience to experience the performance both physically and through its mediated image.

Signal Drop
Static, test patterns, and signal failure break apart the polished broadcast, exposing the technology and instability behind the illusion.
