Rebirth is an experimental short film created in response to the Altadena Eaton fires of January 7, 2025. In the aftermath, empty lots sit where homes and buildings once stood, surrounded by surviving vegetation and traces of what remains. Rather than focusing on destruction alone, the film turns toward what endures.
Through projection mapping and light, moving imagery is cast onto vacant land, plants, and remnants of structures, allowing memory, absence, and renewal to coexist within the same space.
Rebirth reflects on the idea that a place is more than its physical structures. Even in loss, the spirit of Altadena lives on through its land, its regrowth, and the memories embedded within it. The film becomes a meditation on cycles of destruction and renewal, revealing beauty in silence and the quiet persistence of life.
